Party On.....
While school adminstrators surely pay more attention to the annual U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT rankings, you can be sure there's a little sigh of relief coming out of Kirkland Hall these days.
Vanderbilt is nowhere to be seen in the Top 20 Rankings of Party Schools compiled by THE PRINCETON REVIEW. The University of Iowa is first , followed by UC-Santa Barbara, Illinois and West Virginia (which was number one last year). Vanderbilt is also not ranked in the Top 20 of the most "sober" schools either. In fact, no schools in all of Tennesee made either list this year.
There might have been some increased concern at Kirkland since last year (2012) Vanderbilt made the Top 10 in PLAYBOY Magazine's Top Party Schools, coming in at #7 behind UVA (Mr. Jefferson's school demanded a recount), Southern Cal, Florida, Texas, Wisconsin and Georgia. The PLAYBOY survey (which is due to come out again this fall) is based on a compilation of 900 data points concerning the Top 100 schools in the nation based on sex, sports and nightlife.
THE PRINCETON REVIEW says its survey is done after interviewing an average of 333 students per campus about a variety of subjects covering the past three years. It's done on a five-point scale that allows school-to-school comparisons.
In the meantime, we've got our own partying to do come Friday, October 4 to celebrate the 40th Reunion of our Vanderbilt Centennial Class of 1973. We will be in the beautifully renovated Rand Hall on campus (yeah I know we didn't think of this as a party spot back in the day). But it is now!
So register today!

And party on!
Also don't fret.
We know our party needs have changed over time. No loud bands or music.
We'll have lots of fun, good food (more on the menu later) and lots of quiet space when we can do what's most important coming back to campus (seeing and visiting with our old friends). By the way, there is an all-class dance on Alumni Lawn with a live band that starts right after our party around 9:30 p.m.
So no matter what you want to do that night, you won't miss out regardless.
But first, register now!
